When Jesper Rømer began his career as a high school teacher in Denmark, he had no plans of becoming a tech entrepreneur. Meebook started as a classroom experiment in 2011, and turned into one of the most intuitive learning management systems in Scandinavia, part of the Visma Group since 2024.
Rethinking digital learning
Back in 2011, Jesper was leading a digitalisation project at his school, introducing iPads into classrooms for the first time, though exciting at the time, it didn’t suit how teachers actually work. The problem was simple but fundamental: iPads were designed for personal use, not for structured classroom collaboration.
Together with co-founder Søren Adolph and Nanna Bentel, Jesper built the first version of Meebook, designed as a dynamic, web-based system where teachers could plan lessons, upload materials, and students could access everything in one structured interface. The core idea - bridging teaching with intuitive digital organisation - still defines Meebook today.
The evolution of Meebook
In its early days, Meebook was simply a one-way distribution tool - teachers shared materials with students, and soon after, the platform evolved to enable two-way communication, assignments, and, later, knowledge sharing among teachers.
Today, Meebook is taking another major step with the introduction of its AI Planning Assistant.
“Our AI assistant helps teachers plan lessons,” Jesper explains. “They can select a topic, subject, and grade level, and Meebook automatically generates a structured plan with activities, assignments, and resources, all powered by AI.”
This next phase, which Jesper calls “Meebook 2.0”, is now live - helping teachers save countless hours in lesson planning while maintaining pedagogical quality.
